HOLY GRAILS AND FAILS - FOUNDATION

Thursday, 27 April 2017

I am so sorry for abandoning my blog for almost a month, I have been so busy with college work etc. but I'm going to try and get myself into a routine again.

I thought I'd look at my holy grails and fails n terms of foundation and hopefully give people some guidance on what foundations work and don't work on me.

♡ My Holy Grail Foundation ♡

My go-to foundation for right now has to be my L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation. This foundation claims to be very high coverage, and while I don't think it is (I'd say the coverage is the same as my Maybelline Fit Me! foundation), it applies really well and isn't sticky or drying.

This foundation comes out of the bottle a bit mousse-y, and reminded me of Dream Matte Mouse, which made me want to cringe and I instantly regretted my purchase. However (you'll be pleased to know), it applies nothing like Dream Matte Mousse, and instead is the most gorgeous foundation I have ever used. It stays on all day and looks lovely, and controls my shine.

The one complaint I have about this foundation is that it does not have a very diverse shade range. I am so pale, and always have trouble picking out foundations (especially drugstore ones) that are my shade. The lightest shade, porcelain is too light for me, and the shade up from that, Natural Rose, is far too dark. In order to combat this, I have started to mix Porcelain into my Soap and Glory SPEED PLUMP™ ALL-DAY SUPER MOISTURE MARVEL moisturiser (which is also a holy grail).

I tend to use my Real Techniques Stippling Brush to apply this foundation as it is much easier than using a sponge/Beauty Blender.

This foundation retails for £9.99 (here) and out of five stars, I'd give this foundation a 4 and a half. If the shade range was more diverse I'd give it a five.

More of a Fail Than a Holy Grail - Foundation

The foundation that I'd say was a massive fail was the Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation. I hated this foundation, as it didn't make you look illuminated, was orange and was so hard to apply. I picked this foundation up in the shade "Porcelain" as I was after a foundation that wouldn't make me look so tired in the morning, and I have to say I was not pleased. This foundation just gave me a semi-matte finish, and oxidised so badly.

To apply this was very difficult. I found that it was very thick and was hard to blend in. I used my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to blend it in and found that it just sat on top of my face, and didn't sink in to my skin.

I wore this foundation a couple of times before I threw it out as it didn't do anything for my skin. I am giving this foundation one star out of five. You can see this foundation here

Thank you for reading and feel free to comment and tell me what foundations you love! -Ashleigh♡xoxo
