I
am planning to do this kind of post at the end of each month as I feel it is a
good way to catch up with my life and what I am doing each month.
The
first two weeks of January were pretty quiet, I didn't have uni as I went back
on the 15th January, so I was really not doing a lot. I should have been
studying, which I sort-of done whenever I could be bothered, but I mainly
watched YouTube videos and procrastinated.
I
had a marketing test (which is open for two weeks from the 21st
January), and I also have a marketing essay due for the 5th February. It
usually takes about a month for us to get our essay feedback so I'm not
expecting that anytime soon!
As
some of you know, I had my business law exam at the start of December and
we had a business law assignment which I got my results for in the first week
of January. I passed my assignment, which I'm so happy with as business law is
a single-semester course so I'm done with that subject! Also, I took history as
my elective, but I don't have to continue with it after the first semester so
now I have three subjects; marketing, business analysis and economics. Such a
weight off my shoulders!
In
terms of work, I had a job interview before I went back to uni for Tim Hortons
in Glasgow. I was so undecided on taking the job if I was successful, as I have
so many holidays planned, and I am used to the holiday procedure in my work.
I've already taken them, so it would be easier for me just to stay in my
current job right now. I really want to leave my job, as I hate working
weekends and have become disillusioned with working in retail, but it makes
more sense for me to stay in a place that I am used to. I may apply for more
jobs after my holidays are over, but for now I'm going to stay where I am.
I
booked my tickets to Milan at the end of 2017, so now I have that sorted! I
also have my holiday to the Caribbean to look forward to and my holiday to
Berlin and Krakow. I am so looking forward to all these places, so now I need
to have a look at places I want to visit when I'm on holiday!! I honestly
cannot wait to go away, and planning holidays makes me so excited. I printed
out maps of places we were going, and I have started learning phrases in
German, Polish and Italian. Me and my friends have booked tickets to Auschwitz
and are going to book our museum passes in a few months.
One
of my new year’s resolutions was to save more, and I have started doing so! I
recently set up an ISA Help to Buy savings account to save for a flat when I
finish uni, so I am currently moving my money that I had already saved into
that account. I'm also planning on saving money for my holidays. I also have a
notebook where I write down all the money I have spent, and it works wonders!
It really helps you put your purchases into perspective and ask yourself 'do I
really need that?'.
Apart
from that, my life has been pretty quiet. I've just been spending time with my
friends and loved ones, reading a lot (I have read Around the
World in 80 Days by Michael Palin) and I have subscribed to Audible, so I am
listening to Dark Matter by Blake Crouch whenever I have a spare few minutes.
Me and my dad also watch new episodes of Brooklyn 9 9, The Big Bang Theory and
Modern Family when they come out and we do this weekly and I have finished
Around the World in 80 Days with Michael Palin (the documentary version of the
book).
I've
also started going to the gym! I really need a release and something to do
instead of studying every night. I'm currently going to one or two classes a
week, and I go to yoga and pilates twice a week. I need to mix it up as it also
offers access to the swimming pool and sauna!
I
got sick in the third week of January, but nothing too serious! I think I just
caught a bug as there are so many that are around at this time of year. I'm still feeling unwell, which is rubbish, and hopefully it leaves soon.
This
month, my favourite song has been Rebellion (Lies) by Arcade Fire, my favourite
book has been Around the World in 80 Days, and my favourite film (technically I
seen this at the end of 2017 but I'm still counting it) is In Bruges!
I
really hope the rest of the year is like this as I am getting so used to this
relaxed pace!! How has your January been?

When I first thought about going self-hosted, I thought it would be amazing. I would know how to work it, I wouldn't get confused and I'd be doing something great for my blog, getting companies to take me seriously. I am not good with technology at all, so I have no clue why I thought going self-hosted was a good idea.
![]() |
Side note: I am aware this picture is from August, but I love my Italy pictures and will continue to use them until the end of time. |
But alas, hindsight is a wonderful thing and I soon realised it was not all it was cracked up to be. The actual process was easy enough, I understood it and it was pretty self-explanatory. That was the only bit that was easy and I spent the best part of two nights trying to fix and edit my blog.
My blog was (or is, seeing as it's back now) with Blogger and I had to transfer the domain I had already bought to the hosting site I used, which was 123 Reg. Transferring the domain took what felt like forever (in actual fact it took a week) and I didn’t want to put any new posts up while it was transferring as I was worried that new posts wouldn’t work due to the changes my blog was going through. Waiting to post and waiting for the transfer to go through felt like the longest period ever.
I decided to go self-hosted as I hated the way my blog looked. I have
went through countless themes on Blogger and I had bought a theme, but I just
wasn’t happy with it and since I started my blog, I have had an idea in my head
of how I wanted my blog to look. Aesthetic appeal is extremely important to me,
I am a marketing student and I understand how important aesthetics are for an
online brand, and I have always been the type of person that would re-write my
school/college/university notes if I don’t like how they look, and I got to the
point where I started feeling disillusioned with my blog and blogging work. I also felt pressured to do it. I have been blogging for almost a year now, and I started feeling like I needed to go self-hosted for brands to take me seriously. What felt like everyone I followed was talking about going self-hosted and writing experience posts, and I felt like I had to follow suit.
In no way am I "bashing" those who choose to go self-hosted and my experience is by no means representative of every blogger out there, I just could not work it and I feel like I was doing it for the wrong reasons. So, I logged out of my 123 Reg account and I kindly got a refund, and I changed my theme on my Blogger blog, changed my URL and domain. And this is what works best for me.
I am so excited to continue my
blogging journey this year. Thank you for all the continued support. I am so
grateful for every single person who reads my blog.

Hi guys!! Today, I thought I'd do a post on my everyday makeup.
In all fairness, I'm terrible with wearing makeup. I'll either wake up early and do it, or I'll sleep in and not. This is for when I do wear makeup, and the routine only takes me about 10-15 minutes.
What primer I use varies massively and depends what foundation I am using. Recently, I have been loving the Rimmel Fix and Perfect primer as it is more moisturising than any other primer I've tried. It's such a great primer, especially for the price, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking for a great primer that won't break the bank.
While I'm waiting for my face primer to dry I prime my eyes, and I use my Kat Von D Lock It eyeshadow primer on my lids. This primer is the only eyeshadow primer that stops creasing (I've even tried Primer Potion and it didn't help). I also love that this primer has a colour to it and acts like a full base for your eye makeup.
Once my face primer has dried, I go in with my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. This is hands down the best drugstore concealer I have tried and I'm kicking myself for not using this earlier as it's just such a brilliant, creamy concealer that everyone needs in their life.
Now my eyeshadow primer has set (I've not photographed this) I use an eyeshadow palette. I've not photographed this as there isn't just one palette I use as I use all of them regularly. If I don't do shadow, I use winged liner which I use after foundation.
For foundation, I use the Sleek Lifeproof Foundation in the shade LP01. I am so pale. It's a brilliant colour match for me and I think that I will be able to go up to LP02 after all my holidays when I am tanned.
If I'm going to use eyeliner, I use my Supercat liner (which someone must have knew I was running out of as I got a new one for Christmas). This is hands-down the best eyeliner I have ever tried and I love it so much.
Next, I go in with my Rimmel Wonderfully Real mascara, which does the job and makes my lashes long and fluttery.
For eyebrows, I use my NYX Tame and Frame brow pomade in the shade "Chocolate", which is so good at making my brows look fuller and more defined. Next, I use my Maybelline brow mascara in the shade "Transparent" to set my brows in place.
I have a Model Co. contour stick which has the best smell ever and is a beautiful cool-toned shade. Over the top of that I go in with my Makeup Revolution Sculpt and Contour kit. Before I use the highlight in this palette, I use my Hello Flawless powder to set my makeup and then I highlight over the top of this.
Thanks for reading!

Hey guys! As you all know, I love researching and writing about conspiracy theories, I think they are super interesting but there's quite a few I have came across that even I (the most gullible human being on the planet) don't believe! Today, I thought I'd do a post on the craziest conspiracy theories that I have heard!
1. Redheads are part-alien.
- We all know that there have been a lot of red-headed rulers. Elizabeth I was a redhead, Alexander II of Scotland and Catherine of Aragon are just a few examples of redheads who made history. If you're like me and are interested in this sort of stuff, here is a list of redheads. So, the theory goes that the amount of redheads that have done remarkable things is very high (reheads only make 2% of the population), so they must be aliens. There's a supposed alien race called Lyrans (I found this page that I have used for the quote) and this says [about the Lyrans] "Their hair was red to strawberry blonde in color. The skin tone very, very fair; these entities had a difficulty exposing their skin to certain frequencies of natural light, due to the planet they sprang from. Some of these were also giant in stature, though there were some who were average human size. Eye color was generally light to what you would now consider green, though it is a different quality of green than you see upon your world. These entities were some of the first Lyran pioneers. (Pioneers is a very kind word, for there are many worlds that consider the red-haired ones to be the invaders, marauders and the basic havoc-wreakers of the Lyran genotype)." Of course there's no proof that I can find to support this theory, but people believe this which baffles me.
2. The moon doesn't exist.
- Some people believe it is just a hologram, and David Icke has came forward to say that the dimensions of the moon are deceiving, and that it's a spacecraft. This theory is somehow harder to believe than the theory that redheads are descended from aliens, and here is the video "explaining" this.
Another conspiracy theorist claimed that the sun and the moon are just "reflector simulators" to hide the existence of a planet called Niburu. Here is an article about the existence of this planet which is very in-depth.
3. Space Nazis.
* This theory inspired "Iron Sky" which is a comic sci-fi film which tells the story about Nazis who fled to space and they built a fleet to return to Earth in 2018.
There is a theory that states that the Nazis wanted to gain control of space and wanted to travel there, and they were also investigating the possibility of this during the war. Apparently the Nazis were so invested in researching space, that they fled to New Swabia (in the south pole) to research this further and this site states that "Many of the so-called UFO cases in the 1950s and 1960s—including the famous flyovers above Washington, D.C. during July of 1952—were actually warnings by the Nazi S. S. They flaunted their superiority over the Allies aeronautical prowess."
These theories made me stupidly angry and I don't know why, I think it's just because people believe stupid things. I'm always a bit cynical about things, and I don't believe everything I read, but I also do not form beliefs unless there is definitive proof or enough to sway me into thinking otherwise. For example, I believe in Atlantis, because a continent was literally discovered in 1995. So, Atlantis could exist, but there is no proof whatsoever about any of these theories, there is no way that any of these theories could be true and I just find them so hard to believe. However, you may believe one of these, you may watch the David Icke video and thought that he made really good points, I'm not telling you what to believe but personally I don't believe any of these.
I hope you're all having a good day!

Hey guys! I said I'd do a post where I used my Naked Heat palette, and here we are. If you've not seen that post, then it is here!
The Naked Heat palette is beautiful, but I've used other Urban Decay palettes that have looked so pretty in the pan and not as pretty on the eye (*cough cough*, Naked 3) and I have to say, the Naked Heat didn't disappoint. I've not had many chances to wear this palette yet, as it has been too cold to justify going out!
You can get the Naked Heat palette by clicking here and the Urban Decay website are currently offering free delivery on all orders.

I love this eye look (if you can't tell) and I really think it make my blue eyes pop!! The fact that reds and oranges make blue eyes pops may be why I love them so much and I think this look would be so pretty for a nice dinner or an evening out.
For this look, I used a matte transition shade that was in my Morphe 35OM palette in my crease. Next I went in with the shade "He Devil" in my outer corner and the colour "Cayenne" on my lid.
I topped off this look with some gold glitter from NYX in the colour "Gold" and a pair of Eylure lashes in the style Mermaids Are Cool.
I love this look and I think it's so pretty! Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments below! :)
I thought now was the right time to post this, seeing as I start my second semester on Monday! I can't believe time has literally flown by so fast!
I have loved my first semester! I've met so many amazing people and am now confident that I am studying the right subject for me. If anything, I've realised how passionate I am about marketing and that I want to continue with this subject.
As I expected, it's been filled with highs and lows. The high points have definitely been doing well (I'm surprisingly good at my most hated subject, economics), but it has also been filled with loads of low points. I'm not saying I didn't expect the stress and to be stuck n the library at almost all times (as I knew that was coming), but having to deal with not being able to have much of a social life coupled with family dramas, friend dramas, being extremely unwell and family members being unwell was not ideal. I am so proud of myself for managing to deal with it, though and hopefully semester two will be better!
This post was really just an update on my life post-semester one. I hope you're all having a good day :)

Hey chicks! Today I'm going to be showing you a gorgeous palette with pigmentation to rival Violet Voss! (And the HG palette is one of my all-time faves, so you know I'm not lying).
I picked up the Fierce as Fire palette as Superdrug were doing a deal, where if you spend £12 on any of their products, you received one of three palettes free and I was instantly drawn to the Fierce as Fire palette.
The lid is plastic, which is great as it means you can see these beauties! It has the brand logo and name of the palette on the clear lid in gold, which (in my opinion), makes the palette look high-end and really posh. I love being able to see the colours before I buy it, and the fact they're beautiful, warm-toned colours is a plus!!
Unfortunately, the colours don't have names. But the four larger squares at the sides are all highlight shades and I love there are highlights to cater to all skin tones. The smaller rectangles in the middle are all eyeshadows and there is a good variation between mattes and shimmers.
Look at the pigmentation on that vivid orange shade! The shades don't swatch brilliantly, but on the eye they are something else. I am never disappointed by Revolution shadows and this palette is no exception.
What do you think of this palette?

Hey guys!! It feels like ages since I done a conspiracy theory post (actually about a month), so I found a super interesting one for you! I have so many of these kind of posts planned for 2018, as these coupled with beauty are my favourite things to write about! As you can guess by the title, this theory is about Antarctica and the possible ancient civilisation that may be behind one of the least explored places in the planet.

There have been so many recent scientific discoveries to say that Antarctica may have at one point been habitable. At one point, scientists have said that the continent used to reach temperatures of as high as 21 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, in 2009, researchers tested the air for traces of pollen, and they discovered that tropical plants used to grow in Antarctica. It's all too possible that humans and other biological creatures also used to live there.
The historian Charles Hapgood claimed in the 20th Century that an ancient civilisation did live in Antarctica, and the obliteration of this civilisation can be explained by "crustal displacement" which is basically the movement of the continents. The continents did move, all of the world used to be one huge continent until about 175 mllion years ago where it all drifted apart. The supercontinent was called Pangea and here is a link to read up on it if you are interested!
However, Hapgood was a historian. That is not to discredit his theory, but it is difficult for someone who does not have a background in geology or archaeology to discuss something so vast and difficult to grasp. Hapgood's theory also loses a lot of credibility when we consider that for his idea of Antarctica to be correct, the continents would have to move at 1500 mph, which would instantly kill all life as we know it.
Furthermore, Native Americans claim to have descended from a civilisation of people who are from a great white island which was obliterated. Could this have been Antarctica? It makes sense for Native Americans to migrate west, towards America and live there. The people of Antarctic are also said to be related to Mayans and Egyptians, as in 2016, 3 four-sided pyramids were found on Google Earth, and the Egyptian and Mayan civilisation both made pyramids. Also, Antarctica has been claimed to be Atlantis, and I have done a post on the theory about Atlantis which you can read here.
Personally, I believe there was an ancient civilisation in Antarctica, however it looks unlikely we will ever find out exactly what happened and who these people were. What do you think of all this? Be sure to let me know in the comments! XX

Hi guys! Today I will be showing you guys my Naked Heat palette that I got for Christmas, and I will be creating an eyeshadow look with this palette which I will do a post on at some point.
I have loved this palette from afar, when it came out I had no money at all as I had just came back from holiday and I was poor until payday. Then, every other time I have talked myself out of buying this palette (which in hindsight I am so glad for as I got it for my Christmas!)
The palette comes in a pretty metal case, which feels sturdy unlike the metal case the Naked 3 is in. I am so glad UD decided to update this as I hated the velvet covering of its predecessors (i.e. the OG Naked palette).
Aren't the colors to die for? I LOVE warm-toned eyeshadows, and this is so warm toned and wearable for me, I just love it.
These are the shades! From left to right, there is "Ounce", a pretty white inner corner highlight shade, "Chaser", a taupe-matte transition shade, "Sauced", a darker transition shade which is matte, "Low Blow", again a darker matte transition shade, "Lumbre", a gorgeous pink shimmer, "He-devil", a matte burnt-red shade, "Dirty Talk", a metallic pink-red, "Scorched", a beautiful burnt-red, "Cayenne", a matte-red which could be used on top of any transition, "En Fuego", a deep-red matte which is to die for, "Ashes", a deep dark-purple shade and "Ember", which is a metallic purple with red undertones.
This palette also comes with a handy mirror, which is the length of the back panel. I love this, as it makes travelling so easy. It also comes with a brush, which is the same one as is in all of the Naked palettes, however it is more dome-shaped (which I'm not sure I like).
In my swatches, "Ounce" does not appear too opaque. However, that's what I expect in a highlight shade so I am not upset over this. Some of the shimmer shades did not swatch as well as I expected, which is disappointing. The mattes swatched very well, which was a good thing. I am so pleased with this palette and I am looking forward to creating looks with it! Until next time,
Hey chicks! I had another post planned for today, but the issue that arose yesterday reared its ugly head has made me so upset and outraged. I had to do a post on it as I feel so let-down and upset.
For those of you who don't know what happened, I'm not gong to go into details, but a popular YouTuber named Logan Paul filmed a video where he showed a person who had just committed suicide. If you want to find out more, then you can do so at your own risk.
First things first, I am shocked and disgusted that anyone would use something like suicide as a way to "be controversial" or whatever it was that he was aiming to do. I fail to understand how you could film someone in such a vulnerable state and pass it off as "mental health awareness". That is not mental health awareness.
My little sister was a massive fan of Logan Paul, she loved him and so did all her friends. His demographic is mainly teens and tweens, so when I heard about this, I started worrying about Emily. Had she seen this? If she had, was she okay? If she hadn't, would she end up seeing it? What would her friends say? What would Emily's reaction to this be? As I thought, she had seen it. At first she thought it couldn't be real. He wouldn't do that, would he? And then upon learning it was real, she burst into tears. Nothing breaks my heart more than seeing her cry, and I am so saddened that Logan Paul didn't for a second consider his fanbase of impressionable young teenagers.
I am not only upset for Emily. My heart goes out to the family of the person who committed suicide. I am so sorry for them, not only for losing someone they love, but also for having a masochistic pig use their loved one as a way to further his own agenda. It disgusts me how much power and influence Logan Paul has, and how he's gotten away with such a heinous act. No repercussions from YouTube whatsoever. Logan Paul is a horrible, sickening human being and deserves to have his channel completely removed.
I didn't want to relate this to my own experiences, but I have been affected by suicide, and I have seen firsthand how it affects everyone around you. It's absolutely heartbreaking to go through the loss of a loved one, but to have that loss broadcast to millions of people? That is deplorable behaviour and I can't even begin to convey how upset and hurt I am, and I sincerely hope that action is taken against Logan Paul.
If you click here, you'll be directed to a petition to get Logan Paul's channel removed, and this link will lead you to a list of suicide hotlines around the world. If you just need someone to chat to, I am always here to listen and you can contact me on Twitter.
I hope you all have a wonderful day today!

Hi chicks!! Happy New Year guys. I hope 2018 is a good year for you all, and it brings so much joy and happiness to you all.
Keeping in with my week of reflecting, I decided to do something I rarely do and make resolutions for the coming year. I always have the same sorts of things I aim for, but this year I sat down with a bit of paper and asked myself; what do I want with the next year? Some things I wrote down were things which aren't resolutions as such, but more things I want to do with the next year.
I'm going to kick this off with a really cliche resolution and it's something I have said I will do since I was a young girl and it's to stop biting my nails (which goes hand-in-hand with my resolution to stop overthinking and stressing out). I have always been an extremely stressed person and I always worry about little things I can't control, and so in 2018 I want to get that under control., and this goes with biting my nails as I bite my nails when I'm stressed. So, it's really a vicious cycle that I hope to break in 2018.
I also want to save more. I have two savings accounts, one for when I'm older and finished uni so I can buy a flat or a car, and one for going on holiday. The former I am really good at saving for, and I have saved up a lot of money for my future, and the latter I have a grand total of £0 and 0p in it. I am off on a few holidays in 2018, and I need to save so I have spending money. (Side note: I have now booked my hotels and accommodation for Berlin and Krakow, tickets and hotel for the Caribbean, and tickets to travel to Milan). I am so excited for all this travelling I have ahead for me in 2018 and now I need to get my savings in order! Linked to this, I also want to travel more. This is more of a long-term goal, but it's something that makes me so happy and in my ideal world, I will have traveled to every continent (minus the Poles) by the time I am 30. 3 down, 4 to go!!
I want to get a new job. I have a love/hate relationship with my job, I work in retail and for the past few months I have been feeling unfulfilled in my job and what I do. I'm chalking this down to the fact the last few months have been pretty rough for me, without elaborating too much, three of my close family members were diagnosed with various forms of cancer and I was so stressed about university. I was going from a situation where I felt stressed and worried 5 days a week, to my weekends where things were just as bad. I feel like I haven't really had time to focus on myself and as a result, this has affected my mental health massively. However, I really would like a job working in marketing part-time, or a job getting experience in marketing, which is the field I want to work in.
I would love to be able to do makeup for people more. I have done makeup for a few people, and it makes me so happy to do something that makes people happy. I love makeup, and while I'm by no means excellent at it, I love the idea of making money from something I truly enjoy.
Another resolution is to read more. I read so much in the summer, however since starting uni, my reading has became anything by Kotler and various economics textbooks. I love reading, but I don't have much time anymore. So, I'm going to take half an hour out each evening to read.
My final resolution (and probably, most important), is to be positive and happy. I think that's the most important thing, and that's how I want to live my 2018.
