MY TANNING ROUTINE

I have been loving being tanned and glowy recently - but as someone who's paler than the moon - I have Norwegian, Irish and Scottish ancestry, a natural tan doesn't happen too often for me! Add in the fact I live in Scotland, where it is usually raining 364 days a year, and you start to get the picture.



That' why I've been tanning religiously (or as often I remember) with the Bondi Sands tanning foam. The one I've linked is the light/medium variety as it's the one I use the most often, but I do own the dark foam too - I'll use this before I go on holiday so I'm bronzed.

I follow this routine when I'm tanning, apart from I apply a body butter to my knees, ankles, elbows and wrists after I've applied the tan - this allows some of the tanner to absorb on these dry patches while making sure that too much doesn't absorb.

I also use a Velvotan tanning mitt to tan - there is no reason for this, but when I went to pick a mitt up in Asda these were all that was left. I have to say, I do prefer this type of mitt to the Bondi Sands mitt, I have also used the "foam" mitts and find that Velvotan mitts are extremely soft, so if that sways you then that's something to keep in mind.

I hate sleeping in my tan, so usually I'll apply this in the morning where I don't have much to do, and I'll let it sink in. I keep the tan on for two hours if I want a glow before washing it off, and anything more than that if I want to be bronzed. This tan does actually smell like coconuts - I was sceptical at first, but it does! The smell isn't overpowering at all and personally I couldn't smell the DHA (the stuff that makes it brown and smells like biscuits).
